Guitar Hero is a highly interactive video game series for people of all ages. It challenges your reaction time as well as physical ability and even your stamina. The "Guitar Hero" games employ a guitar-shaped controller with four buttons a player must hit in tandem with screen instructions. "Rock Band" ups the ante by adding other instruments and vocals to the mix. The game has won numerous awards for its gameplay and creativity.

The first "Guitar Hero" was released in 2005, and the series quickly took off. It's a billion-dollar phenomenon, with more than 14 million copies of "Guitar Hero" games sold. The games have become valuable marketing tools for bands.

Mega-publisher Activision bought the rights to the original game and published its own version a year after the 2005 release. “Guitar Hero II” followed a few weeks later and “Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock” debuted in October of last year.

When Activision released “Guitar Hero III,” stores nationwide organized midnight “Guitar Hero” play-ins.

“Guitar Hero” rolled in more than $1 billion in revenue in 2007, becoming the best-selling video game of all time in a single calendar year, according to the NPD Group, a market research company providing news and information on consumer trends.

“It’s one of the hottest-selling games ever,” said Jack Kirkland, store service manager at the Reserve Street Best Buy.

Guitar Hero Society aims at providing consumers with not only game-play tips, tricks, hints, cheat codes, latest news and releases, etc., but also to provide resources for finding the absolute lowest prices and best deals on Guitar Hero accessories and software for it's members.
